Gary Rosenberg, associate professor, School of Science at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis

The Geological Society of America (GSA) has honored Gary Rosenberg, an associate professor of earth sciences in the School of Science at IUPUI, with the Mary C. Rabbitt History of Geology Award.

The Rabbitt award is the highest award of its kind and recognizes "outstanding contributions to the understanding of the history of the geological sciences in the United States and abroad."

Mary Rabbit was very accomplished in the history of geology and a strong supporter of the History and Geology Division of the GSA.

Rosenberg, also a GSA fellow, will be honored at the GSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in November in Charlotte, N.C.

His research specializations include historical geology, evolution and biomineralization
